Now the condenser and cooler are one of the main parts of the heat exchange process in the cold water mechanism heat exchange equipment, and the use rate is very high. But we do not know the difference between condenser and cooler in design. Next, we will mainly talk about this aspect.


Condenser and cooler in the design of the difference is mainly three points, the first point, there is no phase change, the second point, the heat transfer coefficient is different, series heat exchanger. Let's talk about each of these in turn.


First, is there a phase transition; The condenser will condense the gas phase into the liquid phase, and the cooling water of the cooler is just cooling, without phase change, just a simple temperature change; They also use different cooling media. The use is also different, the cooler is used to cool the material, no phase change. The condenser is used to cool and condense the gas phase, which has phase transition.


Second, the difference in heat transfer coefficient; Generally speaking, because the heat transfer film coefficient in the condensation process is much larger than that in the cooling process without phase change, the total heat transfer coefficient of the condenser is generally much larger than that in the simple cooling process, sometimes an order of magnitude larger. Condenser is generally used to cool gas into liquid, condenser shell will be very hot, and the cooler concept is broad, mainly refers to the hot cold media into room temperature or a lower temperature of a heat exchange equipment.

Third, series heat exchanger; If there are two heat exchangers in series, how do you distinguish between the condenser and the cooler? In general, the big mouth into the small mouth is the condenser, the same caliber is generally the cooler, which can be easily seen from the shape of the instrument.

In addition, when two heat exchangers are connected in series, in the case of the same mass flow rate, because the latent heat is much higher than the sensible heat, the type of heat exchanger is the same, the larger heat exchange area is the condenser, that is, the larger one should be the condenser.

Condenser is a heat exchange equipment that condenses steam material into liquid material by absorbing heat of it. There are phase changes, and the changes are quite obvious. The cooling medium can absorb heat directly or indirectly from the condensed medium, but there is no change of phase transition. Plate cooler only reduces the temperature of the cooling medium without phase change. In the cooler, the cooling medium and the cooling medium are generally not in direct contact, and the heat transfer is done with a tube or jacket. In addition, the general cooler is more complex than the condenser.
